Steven C. Hayes,
PHD

Steven C. Hayes is Nevada Foundation Professor in the Behavior Analysis program at the Department of Psychology at the University of Nevada. An author of 44 books and nearly 600 scientific articles, his career has focused on an analysis of the nature of human language and cognition and the application of this to the understanding and alleviation of human suffering. He is the developer of Relational Frame Theory, an account of human higher cognition, and has guided its extension to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a popular evidence-based form of psychotherapy that uses mindfulness, acceptance, and values-based methods.

Dr. Hayes has been President of Division 25 of the APA, of the American Association of Applied and Preventive Psychology, the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy, and the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science. He was the first Secretary-Treasurer of the Association for Psychological Science, which he helped form and has served a 5 year term on the National Advisory Council for Drug Abuse in the National Institutes of Health.

In 1992 he was listed by the Institute for Scientific Information as the 30th “highest impact” psychologist in the world and Google Scholar data ranks him among the top ~1,500 most cited scholars in all areas of study, living and dead (http://www.webometrics.info/en/node/58). His work has been recognized by several awards including the Exemplary Contributions to Basic Behavioral Research and Its Applications from Division 25 of APA, the Impact of Science on Application award from the Society for the Advancement of Behavior Analysis, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy.

Ray DiGiuseppe, PHD

Dr. DiGiuseppe is the past President of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and the Division of Psychotherapy of the American Psychological Association. He is currently the Director of Professional Education at the Albert Ellis Institute and a Professor of Psychology and Chair of the Institutional Review Board at St. John's University. He is a prolific author, researcher, and has trained thousands of professionals worldwide. He has developed standards for identifying anger diagnostic disorders, and has published two psychological tests assessing dysfunctional anger: the Anger Disorders Scale (ADS) for adults and the Anger Regulation and Expression Scale (ARES) for children and adolescents. He works on the development of the theory, practice, and empirical research support of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavior Therapies.

RESEARCHER, PROFESSOR, & CLINICIAN

Laura Reigada, PHD

Dr. Reigada is an Assistant Professor at Brooklyn College and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Her grant funded research focuses on children and adults with anxiety and mood disorders, biopsychosocial assessment, and in the treatment of comorbid anxiety and functional and organic physical symptoms. She is an Associate Editor for Behavior Medicine, and founding member, and past president, of the New York City Cognitive Behavioral Therapy organization. She is currently the Clinical Cluster representative of the Psychology Doctoral program.

Elissa Brown,
PHD

Dr. Elissa Brown is the Founder and Executive Director of the Child HELP Partnership. She has participated in research on the assessment and treatment of sexual assault, child physical abuse, and bereavement related to traumatic circumstances, such as September 11th, 2001. Her work has been supported by the National Institute of Mental Health, New York State Office of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Department of Justice, and private and corporate foundations and has published more than 70 papers and given over 100 presentations at national conferences.

Stefan Hofmann, PHD

Dr. Stefan G. Hofmann is a professor in the clinical program, where he directs the Psychotherapy and Emotion Research Laboratory at the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders.

His research focuses on the mechanism of treatment change, translating discoveries from neuroscience into clinical applications, emotions, and cultural expressions of psychopathology. He is former president of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, and the International Association for Cognitive Psychotherapy. He is also editor in chief of Cognitive Therapy and Research and is Associate Editor of Clinical Psychological Science.
